Dave Newell, CSW, ACSW

Dave joined the leadership team of Nebraska Families Collaborative in 2010 as the President and Chief Executive Officer. In June 2012, Dave was appointed by Governor Heineman to serve on the Nebraska Children’s Commission, and was re-appointed by Governor Pete Ricketts to continue his service through June 2019. In May 2013, Dave was selected to join an elite group of leaders from around the country for the Annie E. Casey Foundation (AECF) Child and Family Fellowship.
Prior to Nebraska Families Collaborative, Dave served as a regional vice president at EMQ FamiliesFirst (2006-2010), executive director at Denali Family Services (1999-2006), and was the Chair of the Alaska Behavioral Health Association (2002-2005). He has more than twenty-one years' behavioral healthcare experience both in direct service and leadership roles. In partnership with his wife, Theresa, Dave also has more than twenty years' experience as a therapeutic foster, adoptive, and birth parent. His children continue to provide him many learning opportunities.
Dave received his Certificate of Nonprofit Management and Master's degree in Social Work (MSW) from the University of Alaska Anchorage, and his Bachelor of Science degree in education from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville. He is also an alumnus of the Alaska Humanities Forum’s Leadership Anchorage program. He has served on the board of directors for the Alaska Behavioral Health Association, Foster Family-Based Treatment Association, and Voice for Adoption. Dave is a member of the Nebraska Children’s Commission, Voice for Adoption, National Association of Social Workers, Academy of Certified Social Workers, and an alumnus of the Annie E. Casey Foundation's Child and Family Fellowship Program.
